Ramping up for a start up. 2012 in perspective

After a year's hiatus and regrouping, ElementDH will move forward with product designs and general marketing of cycling products. We will be more focused on online retail and promotion of the sport especially DH in general.We are targeting mid 2013 for the start of the online retail website and coupled with new product launches.

Enough about us .. what has been happening in Malaysia and around us. 

2012 in closure. Many races were held, many tracks built and in the same time a lot of new faces joined up the fun.

In Johor especially JB, we now have

• Resam Track, 
• Austin Track, 
• BSA Track, 
• Bekyad,
•  UT Track.. 

The difficulty range from novice to expert with a variety of technical offerings on all tracks.

Element Cycle In the New Straits Times

We are in the News Straits Times (Malaysia's National News Paper) :) Thanks to our buddy in NST, Mr Syed Umar Ariff.

The story so far for Element.

Its been a quiet couple of months for us here at Element. We have been riding on and off in the local trails as well as participate in Malaysian Downhill Super Series. Reconsidering and reconciling what Element wants to do this year and forth.

Apart from above , we have been riding up locations in JB
1. DH Tracks
- Few locations pop'ed up in the radar after a good year of promo with loads of riders from all walks of life joining DH riding. So far we have Resam, Mt Austin, Ulu Tiram, Pulai2 and Scientex aka Backyard.The locals are really working it up here right now.. one time there was no place to ride here and now.. we have some choice albeit better than none :)

2. XC trails / Jamborees
There has been a total influx of rides/jamboree this pass 1 year actually and to a point where each week now has multiple options to choose from .. Cycling clubs has sprouted up all over from PG, UT, Kulai, Gelang Patah and etc. There are those few that have been around for ages though.. like PG Gerek and Cyclemotion.
Too many to go to .. well at least we can pick and choose what we want :)

3. DJ/Pump Track
There is a void in this arena at the moment.. no available tracks . hence we will be stepping it up to fill the void. Currently there is one built at Bukit Resam. Building a new track will commence once approval is obtained at a new location near Element cycle store.

Apart from above, Element will be undertaking a huge project which will involve heavy preparation. Once the plans are underway we will be sharing it with you !

Currently the store carries Kali Protection items. Come and get yours.

We know its been a while since we posted in here, as we have been busy preparing tracks and etc for the upcoming years race.

JB will be hosting the first race of the season and we hope to set the benchmark again to improve previous years achievement. For one we have a new track with higher elevation and new challenges.. designed and handbuilt by JB riders with Hermann being the architect. 

In overview, 2010 has been a blast, MDHSS completed with out any hickups with 5 legs being run from JB, Bukit Cermin, Kiara, Penang and Bukit Ramli. All organisers carried out their tasks with excellent precision and ensured all requirements for the riders and event was taken care... From race tags to race timings.

Congratulations to overall champions Elite - Tan Hong Chun, Junior - Low Yee Pin, Men Expert - Ian Chin, Men Sport - Hasmahadi, Men Master - Ooi Chee Keong. Each and every rider contributed to the success of the race season as much as the organisers and the winners. We hope to see you all again next year. Faster and Stronger !

Element has been growing from strength to strength. We started the year with Azman and Hermann being our Riders for Respective Masters and Elite Category. Along the way, Adrian joined the ranks, to become our junior.

Apart from the DH Scene, there has been growth in the XC scene as well. Follow up to the 2009 jamboree in Plentong.. this year , Cyclemotion held another Jamboree.. 2010 - 60km of fun ! It was a great success with riders coming from all walks of life and all over the world.

There has also been an influx of riders on bikes on the roads in JB. Remember guys, we are sharing the roads and its not ours. Lets respect each other and give way where possible - applying to both parties.

Bolts Bolts Bolts - Especially Ti Bolts

Bits and bolts can make a difference.. a lot of difference if you add it all up.

Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number 22. Sometimes called the "space age metal", it has a low density and is a strong, lustrous, corrosion-resistant transition metal with a silver color.

The two most useful properties of the metal form are corrosion resistance and the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal.

Titanium have ultimate tensile strength of about 63,000 psi (434 MPa), equal to that of common, low-grade steel alloys, but is 45% lighter. Titanium is 60% more dense than aluminium, but its twice as strong as the most commonly used aluminium alloy.

The bolts available are all original coloured and are machine from TI Grade 5. What is grade 5 ?

Grade 5, also known as Ti6Al4V, Ti-6Al-4V or Ti 6-4, is the most commonly used alloy. It has a chemical composition of 6% aluminium, 4% vanadium, 0.25% (maximum) iron, 0.2% (maximum) oxygen, and the remainder titanium.[3] Grade 5 is used extensively in Aerospace, Medical, Marine, and Chemical Processing. It is significantly stronger than commercially pure titanium while having the same stiffness and thermal properties. This grade is an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance, weld and fabricability. In consequence, its uses are numerous such as for military aircraft or turbines. It is also used in surgical implants.

Plentong Epic Ride - 28.11.2010

Yes its that time again. Time to test your mettle.. and to see what you are made of.

Plentong trail is well know to all the southern riders and its been the frequent ride locations for many local and foreigners for many years. Its has a combination of many choice routes to challenge the most seasoned riders and also routes to practice for the beginners.

You have a variety of wide palm oil plantation roads, rubber plantation single track, iskandar lake single track, jungle terrain and wide open dessert like routes. The route also includes several uphill and downhill options. Highest climbing would be a lung busting 100-150 meters

This is open to all level of riders and they have several routes 

One thing for sure, there is never ending challenges and fun await those that participate. Last we heard there is good prizes awaiting top finishers of the race.

MDHSS #4 > Penang DH - Mt Erskine - 26th Sept 2010

 

Penang has always been known for its food and historic heritage. Tasty nasi kandar, laksa, fried kueh tiaw and so many others delicious palette satisfying food is served in a historic setting that combines east and west traditions.

Well known to be a cyclist friendly state and city where even the top politicians can be seen in bicycles around Penang. Due to the very nature of the island being hilly, it’s no doubt the IDEAL place for the Downhill Sport to flourish.

Sunday 26^th September 2010, participants from all over Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Taiwan came to battle to be crowned as the King of Erskine. Loads of goodies were given away with prize money to the winners. There were in total 6 categories raced for the event - Elite, Expert, Sports, Masters, Junior and Hard Tail. In total 80 riders participated in the event.

It was a grand and truly fitting finale to the much anticipated MDHSS fourth installment Penang Downhill 2010 Race > King of Mt Erskine. A "Penangkia" called Ian Chin (CCI Penang) was crowned the King at the end of the race, truly fitting and deserving. He clocked the fastest track time of 2 minutes and 35 sec.

All participants also took home lucky draw and some even got frames for free thanks to Da Bomb. Go Pro, Deity, Kona, KTM, Fox, Maxxis, CCI, Pink Bike and many others supported the event with their contributions.

 Winners of other categories, best dressed, wisest and the lucky draw prizes.

In overall the track was awesome(damp) with total eye candy riding from start to finish. Based on the organisers arrangement there is in total 22 jumps (table tops + gaps) in this 1.5 km track. Wide, and clean with berms and mini rock gardens to complement the A-Line of Malaysia (A line is a route in Whistler BC Canada). All the riders loved the track and there is nothing but praise. Overall organisation was good with great support from factory and top brands.

Great work guys ! All your hardwork and preparation was worthwhile.
